WHAT is Z-DAY?
Z-DAY is a massive invasion of the undead in which the goal is to get as many people as possible
to dress as zombies and terrorize the city of Providence for one amazing night!

WHEN is Z-DAY?
The next Z-DAY invasion will occur on Friday, April 25th, 2008. The event will begin at 8:30 PM, when we'll
apply makeup and blood. At 10:00 PM, the invasion will begin.
.

WHERE is Z-DAY?
Z-DAY will begin at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in the Upper Quad at 55 Angell Street in Providence, RI, where we will apply make-up to zombie-ify the horde.
From there we will wander up to Thayer Street and Brown University, returning to RISD at the end.

WHO can participate?
Anybody and everybody who would like to dress as a zombie and scare the pants off your friends and neighbors. Last year about 140 people participated, and this year we are hoping to have somewhere around 200 participants! If you'd like to be a part of Z-DAY but are not the type to moan and stumble about, we are looking for three or four videographers / photographers to document the event.  Also, we need people to help control the crowd and make sure everybody follows the rules and is acting in a safe and appropriate manner.  One or two volunteers to help clean up the staging area would also be wonderful.
Unfortunately, due to liability reasons we cannot allow any persons under the age of 18 to participate - ALL PARICIPANTS MUST BE LEGAL ADULTS. We fully understand that this rule sucks and that there are many younger people who wish to participate, but due to the legal issues we must adhere firmly to this restriction.
In order to participate, you MUST sign the Z-DAY CONTRACT prior to having your makeup applied. The
contract consists of a few very simple but important rules, which include but are not limited to: acknowledging your sole responsability for your own actions during the event, agreeal to cooperate with law enforcement officials and owners of private property, and agreeal not to cause damage to any persons or property. It's simple, it's straightforward, and easy to understand, but it is absolutely necessary in order to keep Z-DAY a safe event.

WHAT should I bring?
Make sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting ruined, because they definitely will. A simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt is fine, although some people prefer to have more themed zombie attire ( i.e. wearing a prom dress, dressed as a secretary or a doctor, etc.) to add a bit of character. Salvation Army is a great place to get stuff like this, but either way is acceptable.
No need to worry about make-up, because as always, BLOOD WILL BE PROVIDED. Other zombie walks which allow their participants to do their own makeup before they arrive face the problem that each zombie looks different (some appear freshly dead, others are blue, green, or grey) because everybody has their own interpretation of what a zombie should look like. By allowing us to provide and apply the makeup for the entire group, we are certain to achieve a uniform group aesthetic, which makes the entire group much more impressive.
Details are still being decided, but this year we hope to have one or two seminars to teach the basics of distressing clothes and applying zombie makeup in an effort to expedite our preparations on the night of the event.

HOW MUCH does it cost to participate in Z-DAY?
In the past, Z-DAY has been a free event, and will continue to be so. However, the makeup, gallons of fake blood, and promotional materials required to execute an event like Z-DAY are NOT FREE. To solve the problem of paying for the supplies for a group as large as the one anticipated this year, we ask that you please bring a donation of at least a dollar or two. Anything more that you'd care to contribute would be wonderful but any amount, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.

WHY?
Well, why not? The first and second annual Z-DAY events were a great success, and most people who participated requested that it happen again this year.
